World Ship Society, Victoria Branch
The World Ship Society is a UK based worldwide organisation catering for everyone interested in ships and maritime matters. The society has over 5,000 members worldwide with Australian branches in Melbourne, Sydney, Fremantle, Hobart and Burnie.
Victoria Branch
The World Ship Society (Victoria) Inc. has over 100 members. The Branch arranges visits to ships, excursions to photograph ships of interest on the Bay and other activities of interest to members.Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at the Port Ed building, Lorimer St, Port Melbourne, with talks, slide shows, films and other activities. Members are also a great source of maritime information.
An illustrated monthly newsletter, WSS (Victoria) News, is available by post or email and includes information on:

Marine News
The central UK branch of the Society produces an illustrated monthly magazine in colour, Marine News, available only by subscription. The magazine includes:- general articles on maritime subjects

- ships changing ownership
- shipping accidents and casualties
- ships scrapped
WSS Books
The UK organisation has produced many shipping company histories over the years, including one on the Australian National Line which was edited by local members.WSS Memberships
Subscriptions are available for:- Branch members, who receive WSS (Victoria) News and can attend branch meetings.
